If ever you don't know what you wear...wear black or gray. Having black and gray staples to fall back on is crucial to an easy, wearable closet. I love how they layer with other colors and with themselves. I want to highlight this scarf. It is perfect for tying in various shades of black and gray. It is incredibly soft and cozy with an ingenious design. It has arm holes! It's like a blanket that you can wear without looking like you left your house in a Snuggie (or whatever those things are called). I added my lilac/gray bag for a little color and carried the purple hue into my lip color with a more saturated shade to really give the look a pop.
Since we're talking gray basics, I want to mention how amazing sweater dresses are. I love the one I'm wearing from J. Crew Factory. It is sold out online (although I have linked to similar ones) but you can try your local J. Crew Factory, if you have one, to see if they still have any in stock. It is amazing how surprisingly versatile it is. It is a great seasonal transition piece as it can be worn with various colors of tights and leggings and then transition to bare-legs with a cute slip peeking out from beneath. Purchase one in a classic silhouette and it will serve you well for years to come.
The fleece tights I actually found at Walgreens (weird right?). However, I've only ever found them in the small/medium size and have linked to a similar pair that are about the same price. The next time you have to run to the local drugstore, pick up a pair of fantastic textured leggings for $6 why don't ya! Wasn't expecting to fall in love with Walgreen's leggings but hey...there's a first for everything.
