Spring Shoe Guide 2015

Here I have compiled the top 6 shoe trends of this Spring. What's great about these "trends" is that they are all pretty classic, meaning they will last you a long time. Their beauty is that they aren't just trendy, they're also stylish. It is always important to weigh a trend and decide if it is something that will look good for the next few years or for the next couple of months before you spend your money on it. I don't know about you, but I can't really afford to throw money at every "trend" that comes my way. I prefer to invest in genuinely "stylish" pieces that  I will get a lot of use out of.

Pastels:
Pastels are pretty much always big for Spring but the pastel shoe trend makes me very happy. Look for light pinks, greens, blues, and lilacs in sleek, modern shapes. Getting too "cutesy" with it won't look current so take a simplistic, modern approach when shopping for pastel shoes.

White:
I know white shoes can be intimidating but they don't have to be. White anything can instantly brighten your look and give it a fresh, clean feel and white shoes are no different! Just be sure to buy a pair made of an easy to clean material and one that has a streamlined design if you're worried about white making your feet look large. If that is a serious concern of yours, thin straps work in your favor.

Mules:
The mule trend is fab because they are so darn comfortable. Adding a sleek pair of mules instantly updates just about any outfit. They are also a great chameleon style as they are office appropriate but also great for trips to the mall, lunch, date night, church, etc. They look great with skirts, jeans, pants, you name it, mules will probably look great with it.

Chunky Heels:
Stiletto haters rejoice! The comfortable thick, chunky heel is here to stay for at least a few more years. Don't toss out your thin heels, they're still great too, just feel free to incorporate its block cousin. Chunky heels can feel a little more casual so if you are wanting a pair for a formal look, really shop around and find a sophisticated pair. I love chunky heels for days/events that I know I will be in my heels all day or will be doing a lot of walking. For instance, if we have a date night that I know will include walking around town and doing a bit of exploring on foot, my go-to is a sexy, thick heeled shoe.

Gray:
Gray is a great neutral and I'm not really sure why it has been so overlooked in the shoe department. Thankfully, it is now getting the attention it deserves. This "wear with everything" color is especially popular in suede finishes right now but looks great in smooth finishes as well. Wear it like you would any other gray piece; with black, white, beige, gray, colors, jeans, etc. This is a really fun shoe to play around with. Invest in this pair if you're feeling creative!

Modern Straps:
Wide, modern straps are everywhere (if you hadn't noticed already). I love this because thicker straps are usually much more comfortable than skinny straps that can dig into your skin. There are many, easy-on-easy-off sandal styles with this modern update in quite the variety of price ranges. I will warn you...tan lines from these babies are NOT PRETTY. Be sure to slather on the SPF when wearing this style (you should be slathering it on regardless!). Nothing sexier than three inch wide tan lines all across the top of your foot....ow ow OW!

One last thing...don't feel like you have to rush out and spend money on every one of these pairs to be current. Chances are you probably already have one of these styles in your closet. I usually invest in only a couple of "current" pieces at a time and just focus on working those into my already existent wardrobe. You don't have to break the bank to be stylish. Many of the shoes I linked to are less than $100 and some are less than $50. You can also keep your eye out at places like Target and Forever 21. If you know what to look for, then search those places and try to find a cute pair there that is of decent quality. I own many shoes from Target that are pretty comfortable and have lasted me (I'm going on three years with a couple of pairs and they're still going strong). Don't get discouraged by a budget, being on a budget just means you have to know what you want and where to find it. Cute pieces exist in almost any price range!

I couldn't leave without mentioning that today is the first day of Spring! I, of course, am battling a nasty sinus infection today and am probably going to do the responsible thing by heading to the doctor and getting my antibiotic. I'm not contagious, I get these frequently...my sinuses are shaped a little funny (yay me). It could be worse though, much much worse. As much as I HATE being on antibiotics, it's the only way I've ever been able to get over a sinus infection that has progressed to this level.
On than note...go outside and enjoy this beautiful first day of Spring for me!

P. S. I've hit SAVE on this post like 50 billion times because Wednesday I wrote it all up, finished it, hit the save button, and the whole thing deleted. Yep, poof, it was gone. I almost cried, but I didn't. Not sure why I decided to share that with you. Maybe because when it happened I thought it was the end of the world for the few minutes after it happened, but I pushed through and while I did have to re-write it, I like it now even better than I did before. Crappy things happen, annoying things that can ruin our day if we let them...but they don't have to! Just close your eyes, take a few deep breathes, and then focus on the next thing that needs to get done. Yes, sometimes it is REALLY bad and you need to just cry your brains out for a few minutes but you can still have a good day, I promise.
Love you all!
